Illustrating a Calendar
If you like illustration and don’t have a solid portafolio this challenge might help you.

Two days ago I said in one of my pubications that I was going to start a 12-day challenge to create a calendar but to my surprise it was easier than I expected and I finished it in two days.
First of all, i sketch some of my ideas on paper so that i can visualize and know how to arrange each illustration and draw each one separately, In this process I made a moodboard with the colors that I wanted to use, some images of cups that I wanted to recreate and the types of coffees that I wanted to put in each month.

Then i started digitalizing each illustration on to my iPad so that i can export them on .png format and finally added them on a template on adobe illustrator.
The concept I took to make all the illustrations was to create each of the coffee drinks with its ingredients and add them so they match each month of the year, its not to complicated if you have all your ideas organized and sketched out at first.
Your sketch doesn’t have to look perfect, it will only help you to be able to capture your ideas and accommodate them before making the final product and that it does not look a little strange when exporting it and having to make modifications later.
Finally, if you are a beginner artist and you do not have a portfolio to show, these activities or challenges that you can find even on YouTube, can help you a lot to start creating your portfolio, as well as showing your work on your social media and entering on several contests so that the people can see you potential as an artist and want to know more about your work.
